In Plain Air is a documentary photography book offering a lyrical portrait of Brooklyn’s Prospect Park and the people who gather there. Irina Rozovsky’s colour photographs observe families, lovers, friends and strangers sharing the park, creating a vivid picture of the many cultures and communities that come together in this public space.
The photographs explore the relationship between the city and nature, with the changing landscape and seasons providing a backdrop to everyday life. What began with Rozovsky’s view from a small motorboat on the park’s southern lake developed into a broader study of Prospect Park as a democratic, nurturing space where different people briefly share the same place and moment.
