Description
Environmental Education and Education for Sustainability: Some South African Perspectives, edited by C.P. Loubser, is an introductory academic text examining the role of education in responding to environmental issues and the pursuit of sustainability. Written primarily for tertiary students and educators, the book considers environmental challenges such as biodiversity loss, pollution, deforestation and urbanisation, while exploring how environmental knowledge and attitudes can be developed through education.
The second edition covers the history of environmental education in South Africa and internationally, the influence of values and religious convictions on environmental attitudes, education for sustainability, curriculum development, teaching and learning, and environmental education outside the formal classroom. It also examines environmental training in industry and introduces research methods in the field. The contributors are experienced environmental educators, with editor C.P. Loubser having played a significant role in establishing environmental education programmes at the University of South Africa.
