Description

The Sportscar Album by Chris Horton and J. G. Newbery traces the development of the sports car from the early open sports cars of the early 20th century through to the high-performance supercars of the modern era. The book looks at the evolution of sports-car design, engineering and performance, featuring marques including Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Bentley, MG and others.

Organised chronologically, the book covers the pioneering sports cars of the early motoring era, the major changes brought by new materials and technology after the Second World War, and the classic sports cars of the 1950s and 1960s. Later chapters include notable models such as the Porsche 911 and 924, Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari F40 and Jaguar XJ220. With more than 400 photographs, mostly in colour, the book combines automotive history with detailed visual coverage of the cars themselves.
