Welcome to Next Chapter Books. By placing an order through our online store, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

1. About Our Books

We sell new and pre-owned books, depending on the individual listing.

For pre-owned books, we make every effort to accurately describe the condition of each book. Minor signs of previous use, such as light shelf wear, may be present.

Any significant damage, writing, highlighting, missing pages or other noticeable defects will be disclosed in the product description where applicable.

Please read the product description and examine the photographs before placing your order.

2. Product Availability

All books are subject to availability.

Because many of our books are individual second-hand copies, a particular title may only be available once.

If an item becomes unavailable after an order has been placed, we will contact you and arrange an appropriate refund or alternative where applicable.

3. Prices

All prices displayed on our store are in South African Rand (ZAR).

Prices may change without prior notice, but changes will not affect an order that has already been accepted and paid for, except where required by law.

4. Orders and Payment

An order is considered confirmed once payment has been successfully received and the order has been accepted.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate delivery and contact information.

We are not responsible for delays caused by incorrect or incomplete information supplied by the customer.

5. Delivery

Orders will be dispatched using the delivery option selected at checkout.

Delivery times may vary depending on the delivery service, destination and circumstances outside our control.

Once an order has been handed to the courier or delivery service, tracking information will be provided where available.

If a delivery is delayed, we will assist the customer in following up with the relevant delivery provider.

6. Returns and Refunds

We want our customers to be happy with their purchases.

If you receive a book that is damaged, materially different from its description, defective, or not the book you ordered, please contact us as soon as possible with your order details and photographs of the issue.

We will assess the matter and provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable South African consumer law.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions removes or limits any consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.

South African consumer law provides protections for defective goods and, in certain circumstances, rights to return goods and receive a refund.

7. Pre-Owned Books

Pre-owned books are sold according to the condition stated in the individual product listing.

Normal signs of previous ownership, such as minor cover wear or light page discolouration, do not necessarily constitute a defect where they have been properly disclosed.

However, undisclosed material defects will be dealt with in accordance with applicable consumer law.

8. Incorrect Items

If you receive an item different from the one you ordered, please contact us with your order number and photographs.

We will work with you to correct the mistake.

9. Cancellations

Orders may be cancelled where permitted by applicable law.

If an order has already been dispatched, additional rules may apply to the return of the item.

10. Promotions and Discounts

Promotional offers are subject to the terms stated in the relevant promotion.

Unless specifically stated otherwise, promotions cannot be combined.

We reserve the right to correct genuine pricing or listing errors and will contact affected customers where necessary.

11. Copyright and Product Images

Book titles, author names, publisher information and other intellectual-property rights belong to their respective owners.

Our photographs and original product descriptions may not be copied or used for commercial purposes without permission.

12. Customer Information and Privacy

We only collect and use customer information that is reasonably necessary to process orders, communicate with customers, arrange delivery and provide our services.

Customer personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable South African privacy legislation, including POPIA.

We will not sell customer personal information to third parties.

13. Fraudulent or Abusive Transactions

We reserve the right to investigate suspected fraudulent transactions or misuse of our store.

Where necessary, an order may be cancelled or withheld subject to applicable law.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time.

The latest version will be published on our online store.
