Description
In Snow Flower And The Secret Fan Lily is the daughter of a humble farmer, who later marries into the most powerful family in the region. Before this, she had to undergo the agonies of foot-binding and learn nu shu where she made a special bond friend. This friend, Snow Flower, is not so fortunate. She marries a butcher and lives a miserable life.
The story starts in 1903, when Lily is 80 years old. It continues on to tell the story of her life from birth, childhood, marriage and old age.
