The Somnambulist – Jonathan Barnes

Description

The Somnambulist by Jonathan Barnes is a dark historical mystery set in Victorian London, where fading stage magician Edward Moon is drawn into a bizarre murder investigation. Once celebrated by London society, Moon now performs to a dwindling audience with the help of his mysterious partner, the Somnambulist — a silent, hairless giant who does not bleed when stabbed.

When a disreputable actor is found dead under strange circumstances, the police turn to Moon for help. His investigation takes him into the darker corners of London, where he encounters increasingly unsettling characters and events that begin to undermine his grip on reality.

A good choice for readers who enjoy Victorian mysteries, dark fantasy, gothic fiction, strange characters and atmospheric stories that blur the line between reality and the supernatural.
