Rainbow Warrior by François Pienaar, written with Edward Griffiths, is the autobiography of the Springbok captain who led South Africa to victory in the 1995 Rugby World Cup. Pienaar looks back on his career in rugby and on the extraordinary period in which the sport became part of the story of a newly democratic South Africa. The famous image of Pienaar receiving the Webb Ellis Cup from Nelson Mandela at Ellis Park remains one of the defining moments of South African sporting history, and the book gives Pienaar’s own perspective on the events surrounding that victory.
