Mitch und Margot Reardon sind Naturfotografen und leben in Namibia. Sie sind weit und oft durch das ganze Land gereist, um die freilebende. Tierwelt und die herbe Schonheit ihres Landes und der Schutzgebiete im Bild festzuhalten. Drei volle Jahre verbrachte das Paar im Nationalpark Etoschapfanne und sammelte Fakten und Fotos für dieses Buch. Die meiste Zeit hielten sie sich auf den weiten Ebenen auf, in direkter Nachbarschaft zu den Tieren und fern jeder menschlichen Behausung. Hier lernten sie deren Familienleben kennen, ihr Verhalten, ihren Lebenskampf und – zwangläufig – auch ihren Tod. Jagen und Gejagtwerden, das ist der ewige Kreislauf in der Tierwelt, der von der Natur vorgegeben ist.

Mitch and Margot Reardon are nature photographers and live in Namibia. They have travelled far and often throughout the country to capture in pictures the free-ranging wildlife and the rugged beauty of their land and its protected areas. The couple spent three full years in the Etosha Pan National Park, gathering facts and photographs for this book. Most of the time they stayed out on the vast plains, in direct proximity to the animals and far from any human habitation. Here they came to know the animals’ family lives, their behaviour, their struggle for survival and – inevitably – also their deaths. Hunting and being hunted: that is the eternal cycle in the animal world, dictated by nature.
