Description
Complete Poems by Isabella Motadinyane is a collected volume of just over thirty poems by the late South African performance poet and writer. First published as Bella in 2007 and later reissued without illustrations, the collection brings together Motadinyane’s intense, humorous, erotic, and painful poetic voice. Written across English, Isicamtho, Setswana, and Sesotho, the poems move between rural and urban experience, page and performance, intimacy and social critique. Six Sesotho poems and embedded Sesotho phrases appear in newly translated form by Lesego Rampolokeng. The book also includes tributes from fellow members of the Botsotso Jesters poetry group, situating the work within South Africa’s performance poetry tradition.
