Description
The New Girlfriend and Other Stories by Ruth Rendell is a crime and psychological suspense short-story collection exploring the darker possibilities hidden beneath apparently ordinary lives. Murder, corruption, blackmail, perversion and secret fears surface in stories where familiar streets and everyday people become the settings for disturbing and sometimes violent events.
Rendell plays with the uneasy question of whether the crimes and irrational acts we imagine happening somewhere else could be much closer to home than we think. Sleek, sinister and psychologically sharp, the collection is a good choice for readers who enjoy crime fiction, dark short stories, psychological suspense and tales in which ordinary lives conceal unsettling secrets.
