Description
Sweet Heart by Peter James is a suspenseful novel set in Elmwood Mill, a secluded 15th-century mill house in Sussex, whose seemingly charming exterior conceals a sinister history. Charley, newly arrived with her husband Tom, begins experiencing strange sensations and memories that suggest a connection to the house beyond her conscious understanding. While Tom dismisses her experiences as imagination, Charley becomes increasingly convinced that Elmwood Mill is triggering recollections of a past life she has never knowingly lived. Seeking answers, she undergoes hypnosis, only to encounter fragments of memory that evoke terror and hint at a buried secret too powerful for the hypnotist to uncover. As the haunting intrudes further into her everyday life, Charley must confront the unknown forces that have long been concealed within the house’s walls.
Blending psychological suspense, supernatural elements, and themes of memory and identity, Sweet Heart explores the boundary between past and present, reality and recollection, and the chilling consequences of uncovering hidden truths.
