The Miserable Mill is the fourth book in A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket (Daniel Handler). In this chapter of the Baudelaire orphans’ tragic story, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny are sent to work at a dreadful lumber mill in the town of Paltryville. Their new employer, the sinister owner of the mill, quickly introduces them to a series of misfortunes, including a giant pincher machine, an unpleasant casserole, and a hypnotist who causes even more trouble.
As always, Count Olaf is lurking in the shadows, scheming to capture the Baudelaire fortune, and in this book, he has taken on yet another disguise. The orphans must once again use their cleverness and resourcefulness to try to escape the calamities that constantly befall them.
In true Lemony Snicket style, The Miserable Mill is filled with dark humor, danger, and a relentless series of unfortunate events. The Baudelaire children find themselves once again facing a nightmare that’s even worse than what came before.
